July 28, 2006 - Following
are some responses to Bryan Williams' email about last
year's BIG ONE Homecoming Reunion:
This is certainly not my feelings. Last year was
the best ever!! I have no idea who he is, but if he is an alum
then I would tell him to get off his ass and help all of you that
work so hard. Of course, with an attitude like his who would want
to work with him!! You guys just keep doing what you are doing,
and if he is upset over the drinks not being there then he has
nothing to complain about. Circle K was just down the road! Talk
about a person with some kind of complex.
Marilou
I'm a graduate of 93. I do not live in Arizona anymore, I live in
Iowa. If
I am ever to make it back to a reunion, it will not be for a few
more years, regardless if it held in Fall, Spring, or Summer. So,
the emails and
postings that I do receive are appreciated. The way I look
at it, it's always easier to criticize. There is too much arm
chair quarterbacking. This fella oughta either 1, Get a little
more active, or 2, don't come back.
Thank you for all your hard work.

I agree with all of the comments on Bryan Williams' negative
comments
but would still like to know who he is. I put my comments on the
Forum.

I have no idea who this individual is, however, if this person had
worked on a volunteer committee at any time in his life, he should
know the amount of people-hours, and people it takes to put
something like this together. When I was younger and at PHS, my
family and I used to work with Don Cox at all the BBQ's - it is
hard work, but the benefits far outweigh the sleepiness and
tiredness that comes on once you know that the job has been done
well. As my own children would say, GET A LIFE!!!
I hope to be at the September 29 Reunion, provided life treats us
well. My oldest son (almost 18) ships August 14 for Boot Camp -
Marines. Mom may be an absolute wreck by then.
Take care Bobby - I do enjoy all the news about Parker.
Betty Clark Corathers '74
Bobby, I did not see the memo that Brain Williams wrote to you.
But in the forum I put my two cent worth on his comments.
I agree with Mr. Garner from the 1950 class. We both know a Brain
Williams who went to Parker High in the early 50s but did not
graduate. He comes each year for Homecoming and brags about his
days at Parker.
Again, as I said in the forum if he is bitching about the
Homecoming events but, does not help out then tell him to @#%*
off! If you help then it your duty to try to make it better or if
an Alumni has an idea that's good. But, if you just want to
complain -- well next year go to Blythe or Needles homecoming!!!

Bobby- sorry about the inconsiderate people out
there who probably do not have any idea what it takes to put
together a reunion in a small town with limited resources,
outstanding alumni, and graduates spread all over the world. Most
of us did not stay here so there are very FEW left to plan for
each years' success. If I were you, I would disregard this Bryan
person. If he'd like to change things, he is more than welcome to
step up to the plate and do what the locals in this town do- you
have offered it to him and that is all anyone can do. My reunion
last year was not a HUGE success, but I can only blame myself and
my classmates for lack of trying. Maybe he should look to himself
for "why" things are not like he'd like them to be. Keep you head
up and know that the real locals are behind your efforts.

Bobby…I don’t know this guy, but, if I were to be introduced to
him, or somehow, run into him by chance, I think a lesson in what
“old age and treachery” would be to his benefit.
By the way, I would love to be included in the planning committee
if it is possible. I may not be able to make all meetings, but, I
can always help in some fashion.

Bobby,
I couldn't believe my eyes when I read the email from "Bryan". I
am from the class of '84 and I've only attended my class reunions.
But I always appreciate the information that you forward and it
seems like you put forth so much effort to plan, organize and
inform and I think you go beyond the call of duty. I appreciate
you and all that you do as I am sure many people do. So Thank You!
I am sorry that you or anyone else has to put up with complainers,
indignants or anyone with rude and inconsiderate behavior! My vote
is to just ignore this guy! Sincerely, Celeste (Stauffer)
Can anyone tell me who this person is and when
he graduated from PHS? As far as I can tell he hasn't registered
at our Web site.
Sorry Bobby, but this is just human nature. In any organization or
group effort with which I have experience, 90% of the work is done
by
5% of members, and another 5% of the group causes 90% of the
trouble. Besides, the only people that don't make someone mad are
the ones that never do anything, so you and your efforts and the
efforts of all involving in keeping this large rock in the air
have
been recognized by an idiot. Congratulations on having achieved
that milestone HA HA>
Hope you are managing to keep cool, both physically and
mentally....

I don’t know this person, but it sounds like he could spend a
semester in Constructive Criticism 101. I’m guessing from the
general immaturity of his comments that he’s a younger kid. As far
as his views being my sentiment – not. I don’t find the idea of
having a reunion in-between the 10 year marks to be appealing, so
I use my freedom of choice not to attend.
If you continue to have reunions and people keep showing up, then
I say file his complaints in the shredder and march on.
John Lynn ‘90
Bobby,
You have my vote of confidence as well as the rest of the
committee. I had a great time at the reunion and didn't make it
one event except the class of '79 & '80 party earlier and half the
homecoming game. Unless my class has another reunion I probably
wouldn't make it to another homecoming unless it fell on Indian
Day ("?") weekend. This year it falls on Oct. 7-8. It would be a
great if the two could coincide. Got any influence over that?
Keep the good work! That rocking chair can wait for when you get
"old". The hard work "Y'all" do is appreciated.
Sincerely,

Bobby:
My advice would be to just let 'Bryan' stew in his own malcontent.
He is obviously an unhappy person and wants everyone else to be
unhappy. I say ignoring this one is the best thing to do. The
reunion last year was high on my list of all time highs so
remember that one instead of Bryan's attempt to spread
unhappiness.
Jan (Scofield '61)
Bobby,
This, of course, is not my reunion, but I have really enjoyed
getting your emails and getting vicarious pleasure out of all your
contacts and plans! Who is this Bryan William and what planet does
he come from?? He obviously has never been involved in what it
takes to achieve what you have done. I say forget him. I wouldn't
even dignify his sour comments with a response. Keep up your good
work!
Marilyn Hohstadt Mathews from Needles where we love each other,
but there are no Bobby Parker's or Conkie's to pull us all
together
Bobby,
This “guy” needs to get a life! Or “shut up” and volunteer for the
next reunion. I don’t know “who” he is; but I think most Alumni
will agree that the committee we have had in the past years has
done a terrific job! To plan for that many people in one place at
one time is quite a feat! I’m sure this “Bryan” couldn’t and
wouldn’t know where to begin planning for that large of a group
and be able to pull it together as well as you (the committee)
did.
From all the Alumni that I spoke with during the reunion and
afterwards, everyone was impressed and pleased with the turn out
and how well it went together. To reach as many Alumni that you
did, with the website, word of mouth and the mailings; was
wonderful. Too bad he doesn’t realize that “you” (the committee)
paid for several things out of your own pockets.
Keep up the good work and plan for the next big one!! You’re all
doing a great job and I for one much appreciate it.
Take care and have a terrific day!
Kay
oh boy, this guy (and I don't recognize the name either) is headed
for a big fight - can't wait to get over to the message board
tonight and see what flaming he received!! Thanks Bobby!

I think whoever the TEAM PLAYERS are in the the committee, do a
damn good job!!
I haven't been able to go to every get-together because I live so
far away but what I have gone to, was awesome! I really didn't oat
attention to the event or food itself, I just was just stoked to
see my old friends and maybe see some people I knew outside of
school.
I think I might know who Bryan Williams is. I think he was a
junior or senior when I was a freshman and that was in 1989. I
think he graduated either that year or the next. I'm not 100%
positive though. But the names sounds really familiar.
I would tell him that his input (ideas, help) would be greatly
appreciated, that he could join but the negativity and rudeness
needed to go because he has NO clue how much time the committee
spends of their "own" time [away from family] just to make sure
alumni can come together somewhere, somehow. If he could help with
ideas, etc., maybe he would be a little more appreciative.
P. S. Maybe the committee could use the "rocking chair' idea for a
new event.
hahaa :^)~

Dear Bobby, Lonnie, Conkie, and other Committee Members:
Please tell me that anything that anyone has said about the Alumni
Association is a joke??? Because surely no one would be so callous
to say anything unkind to anyone who has had anything to do with
any of our Reunions, PHS, Broncs website, etc. This is my personal
opinion however, once again I am sure my opinion is like the
majority opinion of those that I have talked to over the years. WE
are grateful for all that is done on behalf of the High School,
The Website, all the Reunions, the food served at every activity,
and that includes the drinks that didn't show up for the picnic.
If anyone was thirsty they could have gotten their own. I know I
did. The really cool memory I had was how those with drinks were
sharing them with everyone unconditionally. Hmmm...is there a
problem with anything???? I don't think so!

ps The Alcaida food was great...may I have another tortilla with
my meal in 2007!
Bobby,
Thank you for passing along this message from Bryan Williams. As
you know, there are all kinds of people in this world, and at any
one time you can't please them all. This is obviously not only a
"minority report," but a completely ignorant one as well. Most of
us are so very grateful and appreciative of all the work you and
Conkie and Lonnie and others do, both publicly and behind the
scenes, to make our reunions so special and meaningful, and how
open and welcoming you have all been about input and assistance
from others. I recommend you file this message away without any
further comment and continue the superb and largely thankless work
you do to keep the "reunion" alive. Perhaps Bryan can be more
productive by becoming an active volunteer next time around.
Thanks again, Bobby, to you and the Committee for all your fine
efforts.

Mr. Parker,
Just a quick note. You and the other Reunion Team Committee
Members have done an outstanding job putting together each year's
PHS Reunion Gathering. Don't let this ____ guy get under your
skin. I was there at the last Reunion and really enjoyed myself,
MEETING MY CLASSMATES & OTHER PHS ALUMNI'S, (the whole idea,
right)! In my life's experiences I've learned from guy's like
this, (I take quick note of them), and then move on, (however,
looking at their negative comments (constructive criticism) and
trying to turn it into something positive), and then telling them,
thank you. For me, I attend our PHS class reunions at least once
every 5 years, and I look forward to them, ANXIOUSLY.
So...in short...love what you gals & guys put together each PHS
class reunion...
KEEP IT UP!
Thanks,
Beeson'59
I am one of the old guard and I resent the fact that you think we
should be retired.
The food was great and we all seemed to have a great time.
Get your head out of the sand and come to the real world. If it
wasn't for the old guard you wouldn't have had 1000 people show
up.
Get a life.

Bryan Williams, you should have your E-mail washed with soap! The
2005 reunion was probably the best that I've ever attended. Yes,
there was the glitch at the barbecue on the drinks, but those
things can happen ... especially when you're dealing with young
people. As I've said before, the 2005 reunion committee deserves a
huge vote of thanks for all the hours of work they put into
getting the thing organized, the web-site up and running and
seeing that most everything went off without a hitch.
I don't know where Bryan is coming from. We talked with him and
Carmen at most of the events and the only problem I was aware of
was, keeping the dog happy.
I'm sorry too that Conkie wasn't able to get them to have the 2006
reunion later in the Fall. I think it will be terribly hot ...
but, Badenoch's is a really lovely setting for breakfast, and I'm
sure that we'll all have a great time.
Shirley Langendorf (Joe Class of '52)
Sounds like someone who was looking for something more like what
you see on TV. I think of what I have heard is that the reunions
are a big success. My hats off to the people who are putting all
of these together.
Jimmie Babb
Why don't you put this on the forum, maybe under a title of his
name? That way we can comment on it to everyone at once.
Surely you must know who he is because obviously he has
volunteered his time for years and that is why he is such an
expert on the work involved and the people who have put in so much
time and money over the years.
Steve Holdread
Bobby
I just read Bryans e mail and I for one do not feel that you,
Conkie, Lonnie or anyone else on the committee should have to
justify ANYTHING... if it were not for the dedicated work of all
you we would not have had such wonderful reunions. I was not able
to attend last years reunion but I have heard of nothing but
praise and gratefulness from everyone of my friends who attended.
In fact a lot of my girlfriends who attended the reunion sent me
tons of pictures of the reunion and all I saw was big smiling
faces!!
After all my friends e mailing me and telling me what a wonderful
time everyone had, I decided that there is no way I will miss the
next reunion and I for one plan on going to the 07 reunion. All I
can say to Bryan is if he does not like the way things are done
then he needs to get off the couch and come help out. I see on the
parker forum the committee ask for help from anyone who wants to
volunteer their time. So to all you on the committee you just keep
doing what you have been doing because I will support you all.
I for one take my hat off to all the work everyone on the
committee has put in to make past reunions such a success!
Sincerely
Sheila Nelson (Skinner class of 76)
ALOHA,
Don't pay any attention to persons who are not living in Parker and
don't have much to do with the reunions. I don't believe Bryan
graduated from Parker High. I think he only went to school a
couple of years.
Jackie Garner (Class of 1950)
You know if you value people more than perfection, drinks and
stuff every reunion is wonderful. I've enjoyed speaking with
people 20 years older than me and kids still in school. I enjoy
the river the mountains, the people. Having all the reunions and
homecoming the same weekend is brilliant. I tell every one how
wonderful it is to visit with the generations of folks who
graduated from PHS. I think other high schools across the country
are catching on. On the other hand I sure wouldn't want to
discourage anyone from pitching in and working their tush off to
improve whatever. I find remembering to show gratitude and being
thankful for everyone does improve everything everytime.
Joy Holdread 72 Going to be on the river this weekend with lots of
PHS graduates.
