Sunday - Feb 19, 2006 - 1st Annual Cross Country
Alumni Golf Tournament - Here's a report and pictures from Lonnie Alcaida
North ('70:
What a great time was had by the few who attended
the 2006 1st Annual CC Golf Match. We all met at the old standby, Coffee
Urns. Busy, busy is all I can say. Plates were cleaned so food was mighty
tasty. Ran into Coni Patrick Interlicchia ('66) and her dad Raymond ('42)
having breakfast there too. Coni told us that Sandy Norris Pierce ('66)
was camped up the road from where we would be day camping so we decided to
stop and interrupt her party. Seems we caught up to her just in time
before they were leaving for a jeep excursion. We said our hello's then
off we went to find our spot for camping. Unfortunately we didn't have
enough people to play golf (we hope that will be rectified next year) but
Walt Johnson showed up just to be able to take the first tee-off honors.
Thank you Walt!
Sun was shining nicely so off came the jackets and sweatshirts....for a
little while at least until the cloud cover came. Steve Holdread brought
enough wood in case we needed a fire. No campfire for us it seemed due to
the gusts of wind that crept up on us. Still...the fluctuating weather
didn't hamper our goal to have a great time.
Thanks go to Gil Lilliard '65 and his wife Janet who brought along their
good buddy Pam Blake '65 (Davis). Sorry to hear that Pete was under the
weather and unable to attend. Walt Johnson (Froggy)...thank you for taking
the first hole shot. Nice!!
And last but certainly not least, to my good buddy Steve Holdread '66. It
wouldn't have been the same without you. And it's not just because you had
the jumper cables. You're the best my friend!
Here are a few of the pictures I took.

Hope you all enjoy the pictures I took while
Steve, Dinker and I were out enjoying the day looking for the "Backwaters"
on the river. Sorry to say the backwaters are a mere memory to those who
had the privilege of spending their childhood and teens there. If anybody
knows of someone who has any pictures of the "Backwaters" back then,
please share them with us. ENJOY!
