Raising Funds for Komen for the Cure!

Bobby,

Here is the info for my journey to help in fighting Breast Cancer. If you could list up on the Broncs website, I'd truly be indebted.

This October, I'll be participating in a very special event called the Breast Cancer 3-Day.

I'll walk 60 miles over the course of three days with thousands of other women and men. The net proceeds will support breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment through Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the National Philanthropic Trust Breast Cancer Fund.

I've agreed to raise at least $2,200 in donations. I've set my personal goal at $5,000. So I need your help. Would you please consider making a donation? Please keep in mind how far I'm walking -- and how hard I'll have to train.

According to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, approximately 200,000 American women will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year, and nearly 40,000 will die from the disease. That's why I'm walking so far. To do something bold about breast cancer. I hope that you'll share this incredible adventure with me -- by supporting me in my fundraising efforts.

Thank you in advance for your generosity!

Thanks!!

September 2, 2006 - Walt Johnson '62 sent some awesome pictures for us to enjoy.  Thanx!  Walt - There's nothing like sunset in the Arizona sky!

August 29, 2006 - Here's a message from Buni Hooper:

Hi Bobby,

The Town of Parker has been without a pool for three seasons. We are actively working on a Grant from the State called the Heritage Grant. It would help if former lifeguards or swimmers sent a letter of support via e mail to bunihop@npgcable.com and I will pass them along. The Pop Harvey Aquatic Association a 501 (c) non profit has taken over with swimming lessons for the past three summers holding classes at five different commercial pools in Parker, and will have at least one more summer even if we get the grant. Donations are what floats the Aquatic Association with all funds spent on kids programs, learning how to swim, or swim better or first aid, lifeguard training, and for our "Save the Pool " Project. Tee shirts will soon be available for $10 ( I helped save the Parker Pool).

We had a huge community bakesale last week with the junior high honor kids running it and all the swim families baking. We are having a Splish Splash Swim Dash - a walk for all from McDonalds to Pop Harvey Park (so even the littlest volunteer can do it) with sponsor sheets, dinner and certificates for all.

Dr. Gene Carnicom who helped to get Red Cross in La Paz County said it the best, 'When we lost the pool, we lost a community" it really tied us all together for socializing, fitness, safety, bonding at it's best.
Thought some grads might be interested. Thank You Buni Hooper

July 29, 2006 - I've posted all these comments so that we can realize that we're all in this together and those that can help, do, and those that can't come and enjoy anyway.  Lots pay our $5 yearly dues, and many pay much more, just to make it all the best we can.  If you want to read what the emails said, click here.  If you want to comment and join in all the discussions, go to the Broncs Forum here.

If you want to know how hot it has been in Parker, here's yer sign!

July 26, 2006 - We have made some  changes in the Home Page. First, we will have a Update with information fresh from the minds and emails of Alumni.  For those of you who don't frequent the Broncs Forum, we'll recap some of the topics of interest for the previous day.

Rather than post pictures on the Home Page, we will have links to anything new in the right hand column.  This center column will be for news of interest to everyone.

Lonnie Alcaida has some Great News!  Just received news that the school board will be adding to their agenda in August a vote to change the name of the multipurpose building at the high school. We sent a letter to the school board requesting the name be changed to "Alumni Hall." Only befitting don't you think? Even though the recommendation seems to be a 'go'....it probably wouldn't hurt to have your fingers crossed.
